Cottages
Spend your evenings in cozy comfort while nestled in front of the fireplace of one of Broadmoor Cottages’ generous 450-square-foot bedrooms. Their equally inviting 150 square feet bathrooms come complete with heated floors. The parlors have high-beamed ceilings and views of the East Golf Course and Cheyenne Mountain, making them an ideal spot for a luxurious retreat.
The cottages are located next to the tennis and pickleball courts and a short stroll from the Golf Club, Spa, and Fitness Center.
Estate House
Step into the past in this majestic 12,000-square-foot residence. Originally designed by celebrated architect Thomas MacLaren back in the late 1920s, it was later expanded to create a luxurious 1930s retreat without compromising its historic charm and character. Every detail has been reimagined with traditional Broadmoor style for an unforgettable experience that will transport you to another era.
The Estate House offers unparalleled luxury and convenience, with five grand bedrooms, each featuring either a king or two queen beds in addition to an ensuite bath. Plenty of space is available for entertaining your guests. To top it off, you’ll have access to a fully-equipped gourmet kitchen where all your culinary needs can be taken care of. Plus, enjoy complimentary transportation during your stay dates–your choice of Cadillac SUV or sedan.
Brownstones
When you choose these lavish accommodations, they go above and beyond the ordinary Colorado vacation homes. You will be surrounded by sumptuous amenities such as grand living spaces ideal for entertaining your guests, plus gourmet kitchens equipped with professional-grade appliances. To add to the extravagance of your stay, a complimentary Cadillac SUV or sedan service is included throughout your visit.
Restaurants
It is a rare occurrence these days for a large resort to have incredibly high-quality food at every single one of its restaurants on the property. So I was pleasantly surprised to discover during my stay at The Broadmoor that the food was excellent in all the restaurants and cafes I visited.
You can experience a variety of unique dining experiences at The Broadmoor. From casual cafes and bars to elegant fine-dining rooms, the resort offers award-winning cuisine expertly prepared by the culinary team. Enjoy classic favorites with a twist or try something new from the carefully curated menus and never eat the same thing twice. Unless, of course, you want to!
Lake Terrace Dining Room
One of my personal favorite things about a vacation is breakfast, and more specifically, the breakfast room. Lake Terrace overlooks Cheyenne Lake and is a soothing and peaceful place to start your day. You have the choice between an extensive breakfast buffet or a la carte items.
Summit
I can’t rave enough about the Chef’s tasting menu and accompanying wine pairings selected by the Sommelier. The food was incredible, and every wine poured was exceptional.
Opened in 2006, Summit has been an awe-inspiring destination for diners looking to sample contemporary American cuisine crafted with local and sustainable Colorado ingredients. Here you can explore a selection of special seasonal cocktails, craft beers from the region, and fine wine selections sourced around the globe – all brought together in a setting designed by renowned restaurant designer Adam Tihany.
Ristorante del Lago
At Ristorante Del Lago, you will be met with an aroma of wood-fired pizzas and a sizzle of meats. Homemade pasta will call your name, and a selection of salumi and Formaggio are imported directly from Italy. If your appetite isn’t yet satiated, end your meal with one (or two!) servings of freshly made cannoli.
Try and decide between the carbonara or the bolognese; both are out of this world delicious. The atmosphere is a lively one!
La Taverne
The Broadmoor’s legendary steakhouse, La Taverne has been serving up steaks, chops, and seafood since the opening of The Broadmoor in 1918. Enjoy hand-crafted cocktails or a selection from their award-winning wine list.
Start your meal with a choice of fresh oysters before moving on to one of the signature steaks, and top off your meal with their to-die-for chocolate cake.
Golden Bee
Head to the Golden Bee and prepare to get bee’d! It’s a fun gesture from the staff upon your first visit to this pub full of English charm. The authentic bar was shipped over from a 19th-century English pub and is full of lively fun.
The Golden Bee boasts an extensive selection of international beers and ales along with their famous pub grub such as fish & chips, bangers & mash, and shepherd’s pie. Enjoy a game or two of darts with friends, or simply relax and soak up the atmosphere.
The Grille
Come enjoy a meal at the Golf Club overlooking the golf courses and feel like you were just invited to a private club! The atmosphere is casual but elegant, and the food is delicious. The tomato basil soup is the best I’ve had anywhere in the world, and the rest of the menu will fill you up after a morning on the course.
Activities at The Broadmoor
The toughest decision you will have to make during your stay at The Broadmoor is what activities you want to do. With so many fun choices, you may experience a little bit of FOMO. There’s a reason why guests return to the resort year after year. There’s so much fun to be had, and you will want to do it again and again!
The Spa
I could spend an entire day relaxing in the lounge chairs in the mountain view room after a spa appointment. Staring out at the Rocky Mountains after a morning of relaxation is a perfect way to spend the day. There is an extensive list of services to choose from, as well as the Spa’s dry saunas, which are infused with Pink Himalayan Salt Walls, steam rooms, oxygen rooms, or fireplace lounges.
Golf
The Broadmoor Golf Club is set to host the 2025 US Senior Open and is consistently regarded as one of the best golf courses in the country. With two 18-hole courses and a 9-hole par 3 course, you’ll find all the challenges you’re looking for. The resort also offers lessons from PGA-certified instructors, so no matter your skill level, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Pools
There are three pools at the resort, an infinity pool overlooking the lake which is open seasonally, an indoor heated spa pool, and an outdoor lap pool overlooking the golf courses, open all year round.
Tennis & Pickleball
The Broadmoor is serious about its tennis and Pickleball facilities. If you love this sport, this is the spot for you. Two hard courts are covered by a heated bubble for year-round use. So bring your friends and family for a friendly game or two.
Shopping
There really is no reason to leave The Broadmoor once you arrive. There are 19 specialty boutique shops to enjoy some retail therapy during your stay. I spent a few hours at The Boutique during my stay and purchased several items that have become staples in my closet!
Fitness Center
Want to stick to your fitness regime during your vacation? The fitness center is open every day from 5:30 am to 7 pm and is reserved for hotel guests 18 years and older.
The Lake
Cheyenne Lake is the centerpiece of the property. It’s a great spot to take a romantic walk or rent one of the pedal boats and explore the lake. Enjoy the beautiful views, take pictures, and just enjoy the peace. Every morning I would get a latte from Julie’s Cafe and take a leisurely stroll around the lake. It was a perfect way to start my day at The Broadmoor.
Seven Falls
This iconic Colorado waterfall is celebrating its 140th anniversary this year! Plan to spend at least two hours and be prepared for the 224 steps to the top of the falls. You can also opt to hike the trails above the falls or enjoy a meal at restaurant 1858.
Soaring Adventure
If you want the best view of the area, it is best done while zip-lining in the South Cheyenne Canyon! There are two courses: the Woods course and the Fins course. Or do a combination of the two courses for four hours of exhilarating fun. Just be prepared; the Fins course is not for the faint of heart. If you are scared of heights, you may experience some nervousness.
Pikes Peak Cog Railway
This will be the most memorable nine-mile journey you may ever take. A one-hour ride to the summit will take you past some extraordinary scenery, and you will have 40 minutes at the top to savor the view. Another 70 minutes back down to the Depot completes this breathtaking adventure on the world’s highest cog railway.
Falconry
Enjoy an up close and personal encounter with these incredible birds of prey. My personal favorite was seeing the owl’s eyes; it felt like it was staring into my soul. The first part of the experience takes place in the mews, where the Falconer will introduce you to the birds and provide a fascinating history of the sport.
The lesson continues at the flying field, where the Falconer will demonstrate his master free-flight tactics ending with the opportunity to hold one of these exquisite birds.
Fly Fishing
Spend anywhere from one hour up to a full day with a professional guide learning how to cast and the basics of fly fishing. If you are a seasoned fly fisher, consider the longer outings on some of the best fishing access in the state. There is also an Orvis-endorsed Fly Fishing Camp for overnight stays.
Hiking
Colorado is synonymous with hiking, and there are some exceptional trails to explore during your stay. Enjoy a guided hike through the Garden of the Gods, the forested-gateway views of North Cheyenne Cañon, or the more strenuous Section 16 trail.
Rock Climbing
Embrace the extraordinary thrills of rock climbing in Colorado. Broadmoor Outfitter’s experienced guides will bring you on an amazing journey, no matter your skill level. Every package includes a professional guide to lead the way, all necessary equipment and shoes for comfortable ascension, plus water and transportation.
Biking
Mountain bikes, fat bikes, and hybrid bikes are available with options for your entire family. Take a bike ride through the neighborhood or get more adventurous with a guided journey through Garden of the Gods or the ultimate Cog Up/Bike Down Pikes Peak Adventure.
Wild West Experience
Axe throwing, archery, and pellet guns. This is your chance to prove you can survive the Wild West! Learn the fundamentals of each activity and engage in some friendly games to test your new skills.
Watch a Winter Polo Match (February Only)
Since the late 19th century, Colorado has been captivated by the elegant sport of polo. The Broadmoor was a renowned center for polo in its early days and once again is celebrated as one of the state’s most beloved institutions for this timeless game.
On February 25th, 2023, the historic Norris Penrose Event Center was host to the inaugural Winter Polo Classic, the result of a powerful partnership between Colorado Springs Sports Corporation and The Broadmoor.
